Accredited Mental Health Social Worker
Couples Counsellor & EMDR Therapist
Ali Richards is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker who provides compassionate, evidence-based counselling support to adults and couples navigating a wide range of emotional and relational challenges. She is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), recognised for her advanced training and experience in mental health assessment, counselling, and therapeutic interventions. She offers both in-person and telehealth appointments, ensuring flexible and accessible care to suit each client’s needs.
She began her career in community support and mental health counselling services, where she developed a strong commitment to creating safe, non-judgmental spaces for people to explore their experiences. Over the years, she has worked with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, low self-worth, and significant life transitions. Her approach is warm, collaborative, and client-centred, helping people feel understood while building the practical skills and insights needed for meaningful change.
In addition to her work with individuals, she has a strong interest in relationship and couples therapy. Ali is trained in Level 1 and 2 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy. She supports couples experiencing communication difficulties, disconnection, conflict, and life-stage transitions, as well as those seeking to deepen their emotional intimacy and strengthen their partnership. Her couples work focuses on improving communication, rebuilding trust, and creating a more supportive and meaningful connection.
As a professional who values authenticity and human connection, she brings both clinical knowledge and genuine empathy to her work. She is passionate about helping people make sense of what they’re feeling, recognise their strengths, and move toward greater clarity, balance, and emotional wellbeing.
With a focus on supporting clients to create sustainable change, not just short-term relief, she partners with each individual or couple to develop personalised strategies that align with their goals, values, and lived experience.
